HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Try imagining a place that has no meaning, then, try to find a purpose in that place. Pretty dumb really. Think how frustrating that would be, think of all the energy that would build up just screaming to be released Imagine not belonging, wandering, trying to find an escape. That’s how Lewinski began. In 1998 through the split of their respective bands the three members of Lewinski found themselves without a direction, through a chance meeting and some tentative rehearsals things naturally progressed and developed into a sound that was unlike the music of the ‘in-scene’, but had a ‘snotty’ Brit-punk feel, arching an eyebrow and sneering at the things that annoyed us in life.

The reaction was mirrored in the first shows played, it was a two-finger salute to having to be something or somebody instead of being yourself, people connected with an energy and attitude that screamed I don’t care. Packed shows and press attention ranted that Lewinski were an assault on the eardrums, powerful and relentless with a unique and infectious style. Becoming regional champions in the Budweiser battle of the bands set a foundation for public opinion, the shows began coming more frequent with support slots for some really great bands.

The line-up
Aaron Wright Vocals, guitar. The frontman of the band, the person responsible for the subject matter of the tunes. Somehow manages to sing about depression, guilt and life’s put-downs with a big shit-eating grin on his face. Guitar riffs that nod toward ’77 punk that gets inside your head like a computer virus, refusing to be removed. Goes through life: Slightly cocky, mainly misunderstood, pretty much unfazed. Influenced by: Cider and most things punk.

Jerry Sparks Bass, Vocal. Providing bass lines that assault the mind and grab you by the throat, shaking you and refusing to let go. Like a sonic juggernaut with a lunatic driver foot to the floor, assess the damage later. Goes through Life: Confused, but determined. Influenced by: Snuff, Goldfinger, Hartke bass rigs and Red Bull energy drink.

Martyn ‘Tino’ Edwards Drums. ‘What Force, what power, what energy..’ is what one Journo once said of this guy, more than just hitting the skins, this is done with a passion and belief. Attitude that underpins the music and drives the songs. Harder and faster than is healthy, uncompromising, yet accessible. Goes through Life: One day at a time. Influenced by: Animal (from the Muppet show).

Today
Currently touring the UK as much as physical exhaustion allows, signed to promotion company Pogomotion, and spreading the music far and wide. Receiving airplay on numerous radio stations including Steve Lamacq’s ‘evening sessions’ and Mike Davies’s ‘Lock-up’ on Radio 1, the latter stated Lewinski were ‘definitely a band to watch out for’. Now boasting an ever-expanding fanbase with over 500 people joining the mailing list, people that understand and connect to the music.

The music was born from apathy, desire and passion drive us, with a twisted sense of humour and energetic songs which are relentless in force, serving to remind that there can be something else. And it doesn’t matter what THEY think. Songs that scream about life experiences (some good, some bad) and hold a meaning and accessibility so often forgotten about in the mainstream. That is Lewinski.
